XXVII Scientific Session of the Young Scientific Staff Section “Development of Food Sciences. Sustainable future”
On May 11-12, 2023, the XXVII Scientific Session of the Young Scientific Staff Section “Development of Food Sciences” was held. A Sustainable Future” and Xth International Session of Young Scientific Staff “Food Science Development. Sustainable Future”, organized by the Polish Society of Food Technologists – Warsaw Branch together with the Institute of Food Sciences of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and the Young Scientific Staff Section of PTTŻ.
The leading topic of this year’s 27th Session and 10th International Session was “Development of Food Sciences. Sustainable Future.” What the future will be like in the context of safe food that will meet the growing needs of humanity and keep up with the changing lifestyle of modern people depends largely on the young generation of food technologists. Nearly 130 participants from universities and research institutes from all over Poland (Gdańsk, Szczecin, Warsaw, Lublin, Poznań, Rzeszów, Olsztyn, Wrocław, Kraków, Częstochowa and Bydgoszcz) and from abroad (University of Thessaloniki and the University of Bologna) discussed the issues in the area of technological and process modifications, nutritional trends, health-promoting food ingredients, analysis, quality and safety of food and consumers, environmentally responsible solutions in the field of packaging and circular economy.
The session was held under the honorary patronage of the Committee of Food Sciences and Nutrition of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Scientific and Technical Association of the Food Industry and the Rector of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, prof. dr hab. Michał Zasada. The media patronage of the event was provided by Sigma-Not Publishing House, FoodFakty and Przemysł Spożywczy. In addition, the conference was co-financed by the Ministry of Education and Science as part of the funds allocated for science dissemination activities under the “Excellent Science” program (Project name “XXVII Scientific Session of the Young Scientific Staff Section”).
The 27th Scientific Session of SMKN PTTŻ was supported by numerous partners from the economic environment, contact with whom is crucial in the transfer of knowledge from science to industry. The main sponsor of the conference was PK Components. Animex Foods supported the conference organizers as a substantive partner and sponsor. The sponsors also included: FOSS, Eppendorf, Delta Optical, Zentis, Kaczmarek Komponenty, Bracia Kowalscy, Food processing in a box, Victoria Cymes, Merazet, Rogowski, Helpa, Ozdowscy, Food Bugs, EQVegan, Hortimex, Doctoral School of SGGW and Podkawa. On the eve of the conference, participants took part in an integration field game, learning about the history of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and the campus located in Ursynów. The end of the game was made more attractive by the conference partner, Animex Foods, by organizing a picnic with the Berlinki brand.
The conference program was enriched with workshops of the Center for Food and Nutrition, during which scientists from the Department of Chemistry, the Department of Food Engineering and Production Organization, the Department of Biotechnology and Food Microbiology, the Department of Food Technology and Evaluation and the Scientific Circle of Food Technologists presented the research and technological offer of the Institute of Food Sciences to the participants.
