Memories of the Professor’s profile
Prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Krygier has worked as an academic teacher at the Department of Fats and Food Concentrates Technology at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) since 1972. During this time, he served as Head of the Department of Cereals, Oilseeds and Food Concentrates Technology and Head of the Department of Fats and Food Concentrates Technology.
Scientific achievements of prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Krygier’s research is significant and includes a total of over 200 scientific publications. The high recognition in the scientific world is evidenced by the citation of the Professor’s works in both domestic and foreign scientific journals. His scientific activity concerned primarily the broadly understood science of fats. Particular achievements were related to research on rapeseed oil, cold-pressed oils, analysis of the fat oxidation process and possibilities of limiting oxidative changes, e.g. by using antioxidants. A number of works in this field have been applied in industrial practice. He also carried out work on monitoring and limiting fat degradation during frying. A number of works in this field have been used in industrial practice, including: author of the text of the Regulation of the Minister of Health on the safety of fats used for frying.
Prof. Krzysztof Krygier supervised 14 doctors and over 150 master’s students and engineers. He has prepared over 100 reviews regarding, among others: overall achievements for the academic title of professor, achievements for the position of professor, achievements and habilitation theses, books and textbooks, scientific articles, research projects, teaching programs and about 200 diploma theses. He was the co-author of several scientific books, including: “Safety in AgriFood Chain”.
Prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Krygier actively participated in the work of the Council of the Faculty of Food Sciences, was a member of many University and Faculty committees, and cooperated with scientific journals, including: was a member of the Program Board and Reviewers of the European Journal of Lipid Science and Technology. In international scientific cooperation he held, among others, as a board member of the European Federation of the Science and Technology of Lipids and Chairman of the European Lipid Congress.
Prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Krygier conducted classes not only on the broadly understood topic of fat, but also developed and initiated lectures on subjects such as “Food additives”, “Special food” and “Functional food” for students of his home Faculty as well as for others, including: Biotechnology from the Faculty of Horticulture. Classes conducted by prof. dr. hab. K. Krygier were rated very highly by students. He was appreciated by the SGGW Student Government, which awarded him the Master of Education distinction in the Master of Teaching category.
Unfortunately, the day has come when we have to come to terms with His absence. The absence of a man we will miss.
